犬を連れてのメキシコ国境越え

車でバハ半島に旅行に行く予定なのですが、ペットの犬を連れて行く場合に、アメリカに戻ってくるときに国境で何か必要になる書類などあるのでしょうか？それとも犬は素通りできるのでしょうか？あまりに大変な手続きがあるようならば連れていくのは断念しようとは思っています。何か情報をお持ちのかたがおられましたら教えてください。
